Christmas Food For ChildrenEach year during Advent, Tulip Street has a tradition of sharing with the community from our many blessings. This year we collected food and backpacks for the children of Warner Elementary School. Ninety five percent of the children at Warner receive a free breakfast and lunch during school days. Many of these children go hungry when school is not in session. The weekends are bad enough, but the long holidays are especially tough for them. The idea is to provide food for hungry children without embarrasing them or calling attention to their need. The child can grab a backpack, sling it over his/her shoulder and walk out with the other kids. No one says or does anything that would single out the child - there is no profit to humiliating a child in need. They just pick up a backpack and go. This year the need was for 30 backpacks and thankfully we were able to provide 34! Click to enlarge the pictures.
